CODRIVER

Lisette Bakker

LISETTE BAKKER

Lisette is from the Netherlands and grew up in a family where Dakar, Moto GP and F1 were followed on television. Besides that, her father used to take her on motorcycle trips (which were not always as slow as her mother expected).

After high school a decision had to be made on the study to do afterwards. The interest in F1 and Moto GP was still there and one of the teachers advised to attend open house of Automotive Engineering School. This was an interesting day, since there happened to be a motor cycle racing team, a rally team and a dragracing team. All this got Lisette’s attention.
But a teacher at the open house said: don’t even bother trying this study, you will not make it.
This triggered the determination in Lisette to go so this study and show that she could succeed in it.

During this study, Lisette got in touch with the rally team and after a first visit to a rally, she knew that one day she would like to be a co-driver. Once the first opportunity came in 2002, she got her licence and gave it a try. Ever since, she has been co-driving in wide range of cars in all kind of events.

In 2015, an opportunity to enter the FIA women in Motorsport selection for cross country arise.
It had always been a dream to do something in cross country rallies, so Lisette jumped in via the Dutch ASN. A couple of weeks later, she received a phonecall with the news she was selected to go to Qatar. An amazing opportunity to learn from Jutta Kleinschmidt and Fabrizia Pons!
She went there with the intention to learn as much as possible and to work hard. Besides that, she was looking forward to meet likewise minded women.
After a week of hard work, she found out to be selected the winning co-driver.
This is where the real cross country adventure started: Sealine Cross Country in 2016 together with Emma Gilmour with all the support of Jutta , Fabrizia and QMMF.

After this event, Lisette went back to normal rally and searched for opportunities to gain experience in cross country. She built a Suzuki Samurai to enter Tuareg Rally with her best friend. A “crazy” plan that turned out well.

In 2021 Lisette got to co-drive Lina van de Mars in baja Russia, Italy and Spain. She could also compete in Andalucia Rally and Tunisia Desert Challenge with Martin van de Brink.

In 2022 Lisette gained a lot more experience with Anja van Loon in several cross country events.
